  • The GAPS Diet is a healing diet that allows the body to go into deep healing quickly. It is comprised of two parts - the Intro Diet and the Full Diet. The Intro Diet has six stages. GAPS does not have to begin with Intro; there are reasons why someone would begin with Full, such as if a woman is pregnant or breastfeeding. Working with a GAPS Practitioner is important when determining what part of the diet is the best fit for your healing journey.

  • The short answer? It depends! Stage 1 is generally completed within 3-5 days but then the other stages can depend on how quickly the foods are able to be reintroduced. Full GAPS is recommended to follow for a two year term before graduating to a more “Weston A Price” styled diet.

  • The GAPS diet gets a bad wrap for just eating soup. Yes, meat stock, ferments, and healthy fats are the cornerstone of the GAPS diet however, after the first few stages, other foods will be quickly introduced. So, no. You will not only eat soup long term. But, more than focusing on what you will or will not be eating, I encourage clients to shift their mindset to how well they are nourishing themselves so their body can heal.
